Lefkada is a beautiful island located in the Ionian Sea, off the west coast of Greece. The island is known for its beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque villages. The best part? You can get to Lefkada by driving, there is a bridge from the mainland!


Here are 10 things to do while in Lefkada, Greece:


1. Visit the Old Town of Lefkada

The Old Town of Lefkada is a charming area with narrow streets, traditional houses, and a picturesque harbor. It is a great place to explore on foot, and there are many shops, restaurants, and cafes to visit.


2 . Visit the iconic beaches of Lefkada

Lefkada is known for iconic beaches, and some of the best beaches on the island include Porto Katsiki Beach, Egremni Beach, and Kathisma Beach. Be sure to bring your swimsuit and sunscreen, and spend a day soaking up the sun on one of the island's beautiful beaches. The beaches that face the west coast all feature the incredible turquoise waters only found on the Ionian side of Greece!



3. Visit the Lefkada Folklore Museum

The Lefkada Folklore Museum is located in the Old Town, and it has a collection of traditional objects and artifacts that give a glimpse into the island's past. The museum is a great place to learn about the culture and history of Lefkada.


4. Go hiking in the mountains of Lefkada

Lefkada is a small island, but it has a rugged landscape with mountains, forests, and valleys. There are many hiking trails on the island, and some of the best hikes include the trail to the top of Mount Skaros, the trail to the Vassiliki Beach, and the trail to the Karya Forest. Also plan one evening to have dinner and a drink on the mountain top restaurant called H Rachi. Just make sure you make reservations if you want dinner, as it fills up fast. The restaurant sits a top of the island facing the Ionian Sea, with a 180 degree view of the sea. You will see people people paragliding, as the restaurant has a runway for paragliders. If you stay past sunset, ask for a blanket if you stay for the views as it will get cold fast even in the middle of the summer!


5. Visit the Lefkada Archaeological Museum

The Lefkada Archaeological Museum has a collection of artifacts and objects from the island's long history. The museum is located in the Old Town and is well worth a visit for anyone interested in the history of the island.

6. Try the local cuisine

Lefkada has a rich culinary tradition, and some of the local specialties include fresh seafood, locally-grown vegetables, and traditional dishes such as dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and kleftiko (a type of lamb stew). Be sure to try some of the local food while you're on the island.

Agios Nikitas Beach is located on the western side of the island, not too far away from the main town, and it is a beautiful spot with crystal-clear waters at Agios Nikitas beach, and a small beach town featuring small taverns and shops. While here you may see a sign pointing towards Milos Beach. Take this incredible hike to see one of the most amazing beaches you never heard about before!
